Because of financial reporting aspects and that legal entities can have separate Base currencies, Younium has a built in concept of data separation for Legal Entities. Because of this, most of the reporting in Younium is based on reporting in each legal entity. However there are still needs to do certain reporting across multiple legal entities. For this there must be a definition of a group reporting currency and currency consolidation.
Insight Widgets
Currently Younium has five Insights widgets that has support for Multi-legal entity data:
- Long term CMRR/ACV/EMRR Graph (Movement All legal entities graph)
- Long term CMRR/ACV/EMRR Table (Movement All legal entities table)
- Short term CMRR/ACV/EMRR Graph (Waterfall All legal entities)
- Short term CMRR/ACV/EMRR Table (Waterfall table All legal entities)
- MRR Table (MRR All legal entities)
These widgets are currently found under the menu item "Preview":
Initial configuration
To be able to consolidate multiple legal entities, it is required to configure what Currency to consolidate to and what currency rates to use for the consolidation. To configure this, you chose one legal entity in your tenant that act as group consolidation master. The currency code in this legal entity is defined as the Group currency and the rates in this legal entity is used for the consolidation. To define which legal entity to be used, set the checkbox "Group reporting Exchange Rates" on the legal entity. There can only be one legal entity in the tenant with this checkbox enabled.
Currency consolidation
The currency consolidation to the defined reporting currency is using the same currency conversion date as used by the conversion in each legal entity to its Base currency. The consolidation is calculated live when refreshing the widgets, the consolidated data is not stored on the records in Younium.
Note that there needs to be exchange rates that covers the dates for all transactions in all legal entities to be able to consolidate all data.
Using the Widgets
The multi-legal entity widgets comes with a few new features that are found in the top bar:
Filter on a set of legal entities
Here you can define what legal entities to include in the report
Filter on custom fields on Account, Order and Order Product Charges
If you have custom fields with the same "key" in all your legal entities, you can select filter that is applied across all the legal entities. In this example there is a custom field on Accounts "Hub" that has a drop down and this would filter out Accounts in all legal entities with the selected "Hub" value. Similar method can be used for other scenarios such as Customer groups, Product groups, Segments etc.
